Cheeseburger in Paradise, 811 Front Street, Lahaina
http://www.cheeseburgerland.com/Cheeseburgerland/Home.html Entree: $10-15, Hawaiian-American fare. Cheeseburger in Paradise is an institution and a must-do while you are in Lahaina. Coming here you get delicious burger and Hawaiian plates in a relaxed beach shack atmosphere. From the top floor you have a nice view over Front Street and the bay towards Lana’i. A perfect spot to watch sunsets but you should come early since the tables upstairs at the windows fill fast. No worries, the views from the other tables aren’t bad either. Pay attention to the ceiling and wall decoration. |
Kimo’s, 845 Front Street, Lahaina
http://www.kimosmaui.com/ Entree: $10–25. Hawaiian-American fusion. The restaurant’s open-air patio opens views towards Lana’i and is my happy hour favorite in Lahaina. Kimo’s belongs to the same chain like the Duke’s in Waikiki with the same good food quality. During happy hour you get awesome Mai Tai’s and the best Kalua Pork at a bargain price. By the way there is a reason the first row of tables is empty! Usually the waves are getting high enough splashing those who are sitting there. |
Aloha Mixed Plate, 1285 Front Street, Lahaina
http://www.alohamixedplate.com/ Entree: $10-15. Traditional Hawaiianian plate lunches. The Aloha Mixed Plate is located at the Northern skirts of Lahaina at the height of Safeway. At the inner patio guests are served alcohol, on the outer beach patio alcohol is banned. Although the location is a bit off the way it’s worth it, especially if you haven’t had traditional Hawaiian plate lunches before. |

Leilani’s, 2435 Kaanapali Parkway, behind Whaler’s Village at the beach
http://www.leilanis.com/ Entree: $10 (bar)–$25 (restaurant). Hawaiian-American fusion. The Leilani’s, a bar, grill and restaurant, is perfectly located at the miles long beach of Kaanapali. The restaurant is at the front facing the mall while the bar and grill are facing the shore. The bar menu is awesome and affordable and its patio the perfect place to enjoy the sunset. |
Hula Grill, 2435 Kaanapali Parkway, Kaanapali
http://www.hulagrill.com/ Entree: $10-20. Hawaiian-American fusion. The Hula Grill is on the opposite of Leilani’s and belongs to the same restaurant chain but is slightly higher priced. Coming here you have the choice between the bar/grill and restaurant. Both are facing the shore. At night you can expect Hawaiian live music. Allow some time for getting a table since many guests of the adjacent hotels come here and in the worst case they are seated first. Nevertheless the location is nice and the view during sunset wonderful. |
Maui Brewing Co., 4405 Honoapiilani Highway, Napili
http://mauibrewingco.com/ Entree: $10-20, American-Hawaiian bar food. Well-known brewing company that is famous for their Bikini Blonde and other brews on the islands. North of Kaanapali they opened a simple but charming brewing pub, a local favorite. The location reminds me of an old storage but I think this is what causes the charming atmosphere. Coming here try the Czech Pilsner Style beer since this one is not sold in every supermarket! |
Honolua Store, Kapalua Drive, Maui
http://www.kapalua.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=303&Itemid=842 Snacks: $6-15. Though the Honolua Store is more a delicatessen supermarket and souvenir store they have fabulous sandwiches as well. Everyday from 6am to 3pm you get freshly prepared snacks you can enjoy on their outdoor patio while watching golfers. Alternatively you can order a take out and have it at the beach. |
Pineapple Grill, 200 Kapalua Drive, Kapalua
http://www.kapalua.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=314&Itemid=1207 Entree: $10-50. In my opinion the Pineapple Grill is one of the best restaurants on Maui! Over the day the clubhouse menu offers delicious bar food for little money and fine cuisine at night. The latter is pricey but tasty and the investment well spent! Sitting on the patio you have a nice view towards the mountains and over the golf course. During the week the grill hosts music acts and food events. |
Sansei, Kapalua Drive, Maui next to Honolua Store
http://www.sanseihawaii.com/ Entree: $10-30. Delicious, creative and super fresh Japanese fare. The Sansei is a small chain with a few branches on the islands. Since they are quite pricey the happy hour on Sunday and Monday from 5-6pm isn’t to be sneezed at. During that time you get sushi and entrees for 25-50% less (depending on the branch). Sansei is a must-do for all Japanese food lovers. |

Da Kitchen, Rainbow Mall, 2439 South Kihei Rd., Kihei
http://www.da-kitchen.com/ Entree: $5-13, Hawaiian plate lunch. If you want to eat local fast food you should have Da Kitchen on the map. There are two branches on Maui, one in Kahului and one in Kihei. Both offer indoor seating but alternatively you can just grab a box and enjoy it on the beach. Being in Kihei Kalamana beach is a great spot from where you have a beautiful view over Maui and Lana’i during sunset. |
Monkey Pod Kitchen, Gateway Plaza, Wailea
